I highly recommend Alberto and Torres Electric! We used Alberto to upgrade our CFLs to LEDs in various areas of our home and to fix long standing issues with old appliances and lights that other electricians have not been able to resolve. Roberto came to install a fan, but proactively tested if the older one worked first, and it did! So he just bypassed the remote receiver (which was the issue) and charged me way less. Such honesty in today’s world - pretty cool.

We started smelling burning plastic, resembling a hot glue gun, in our kitchen (and den next to the kitchen) and it had been going on for a week, on and off, with each day becoming more frequent and/or lasting longer. We called the fire department and after doing a visual check, they couldn't find anything and recommended having an electrician come by. I found Adalberto on Yelp and Google. I called and explained the situation to him. He came by the next morning at 8:00 a.m. and did an extremely thorough job checking all types of potential causes. He checked the subpanel, the main panel, all the outlets, the lights, the large appliances, went into the attic, and the crawl space. He was very patient, listened to my concerns and asked questions to come up with ideas of what could be causing the smell. After 5 hours (!) we still couldn't find the source. He did however find that our main breaker wasn't working (we were pulling more amps than it was supposed to). I was getting anxious because the smell was getting more frequent and we still couldn't find the source. Adalberto calmly reassured me, told me to try turning off different circuits at night to isolate if it was a particular circuit, suggested to turn off any non-essential circuits for safety, and that we weren't able to confirm if the issue was even electrical. He said he would order a thermal camera and come back to see if it finds anything. If the thermal camera couldn't find anything, he suggested replacing the breakers in the subpanel to detect any arcs and as a longer term safety measure. A couple days later the thermal camera arrived and he came by immediately to use it and check. He found it was actually my husband's fish tank water heater. My husband had left it on and on top of something plastic and as it was getting cold, the heater turned on and burned the plastic. We really appreciate Adalberto's help in resolving this incident. Beto was great to work with! He was available within 24 hours of calling him. He fixed our lighting issues in our home, including a burned-out switch with damaged wiring and a few flickering lights. He was honest, easy to talk to, and explained everything clearly. He also kept the work area very clean, which we really appreciated.
